Stones Throw Brewery is seeking an upbeat, forward-thinking, and creative person to assist the Head Brewer with cellaring and the daily production needs of the brewery, including both retail and wholesale operations.

The Cellarman / Assistant Brewer will be an outdoor enthusiast with a passion for beer. The ideal candidate will have an aptitude for learning, an understanding of the brewing process, and experience in manufacturing or production. This person will support all aspects of beer production while working toward taking on greater responsibility for overseeing brewing operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Work a flexible schedule as needed.

• Understand and practice proper raw material handling and inventory management.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

• Understand and follow the brewery’s best practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs), including working with hazardous chemicals, mixing and titrating chemicals, performing visual inspections, and maintaining quality control.

• Develop a mechanical understanding of brewery processes, including production, fermentation, cellaring, clean-in-place (CIP) systems, and keg cleaning, while adapting to Stones Throw’s unique layout.

• Operate equipment and communicate basic maintenance needs related to pumps, valves, tanks, and hose fittings.

• Safely lift and move materials and grain weighing between 50 and 175 lbs.

• Contribute creative ideas when reviewing the brew schedule and improving brewhouse efficiency.

• Communicate personal scheduling needs and brewery needs assertively.

• Assist other departments when necessary.

Department & Supervisor

This position reports to the Head Brewer, Tony Luciano.

Skills & Qualifications

• Knowledge and understanding of the brewing process.

• Ability to follow directions and ask for help when needed.

• Must be at least 21 years old.

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Willingness to learn; on-site training will be provided to the ideal candidate.

• Must have a valid MAST permit for serving alcohol.

Type of Employment

Part-time position. Hours will vary based on staffing and production needs, with approximately 10–30 hours per week.

Additional work opportunities may be available in bartending, general maintenance, and sales.

Compensation & Benefits

Starting wage: $20 per hour, plus employee beer discounts.

If the position continues, an increase to $25 per hour may be negotiated based on performance and business needs.

Wage is negotiable depending on experience (DOE).
